Following the success of Majuli Water Talk 2.0, the Natghar Majuli team has taken a remarkable step forward by organizing the 2nd Natghar Majuli Theatre Festival (NMTF-2025). Staying true to their commitment, this festival not only celebrates the cultural richness of Majuli but also underscores the island’s dedication to preserving its heritage and addressing pressing issues like water conservation through the power of art and storytelling.
Congratulations to the entire Team Majuli for making this significant event a reality! Your efforts in bringing together artists, writers, and cultural enthusiasts to honor Majuli’s unique identity are truly inspiring. The NMTF-2025 is more than just a festival—it is a powerful testament to the resilience, creativity, and spirit of Majuli and its people.
At the prestigious Natghar Majuli Theatre Festival-2025 (NMTF-2025), we, as NEIWT, proudly launched "Majuli’r Panir Katha"—a unique anthology featuring 21 water stories by 21 writers from Majuli, written in Assamese. The book was unveiled by Rinkumoni Payeng from Mishamora village (renowned for its breathtaking sunsets), in the presence of acclaimed actor Adil Hussain and other distinguished personalities from Majuli Island.
Edited by KK Chatradhara (writer and environmental survivor) and Bhaskar Jyoti Borah (theatre personality), this compilation beautifully captures Majuli’s profound connection with water, its ecology, and its rich cultural heritage. A must-read for anyone eager to explore the traditions, resilience, and way of life of Majuli!
Heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this book to life! This achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of the North-East Affected Area Development Society, Heinrich Böll Stiftung’s Delhi Regional Office, and the friends of Majuli. Your hard work, dedication, and collaboration have truly paid off. Thank you for your invaluable contributions!
