‘Uung’ means water in the language of the indigenous Lepcha community.

" Through this photo documentation I wanted to convey the journey of how water flows in our village, Sangkalang till Mantam, and how every species has its own uses of water for sustaining life.

As the river flows down to where human species exist, the fresh water is drawn to urban households through a network of pipelines, but where the water pipelines do not reach, people use other means to collect water for meeting their daily needs.

I could capture a few moments along a small stream that passes through the Mantam village before it merges with the river Rongyoung.

The people residing in the villages nearby go to the banks of the river to relax and entertain themselves by fishing; children as well enjoy a splash in shallow waters of the very river to escape the blazing sun.

It is a depiction of how the river is a source of euphoria and an important element of existence of every species in this living world, the Mother Earth.
